Curcumin reduces cold symptomsEffects of Highly Bioavailable Curcumin Supplementation on Common Cold Symptoms and Immune and Inflammatory Functions in Healthy Japanese Subjects: A Randomized Controlled Study.
Study directly addresses turmeric effects
We embarked on an engaging investigation into how highly bioavailable curcumin, a key component of turmeric, affects common cold symptoms. Our study spanned 12 weeks, involving 99 healthy Japanese adults who were randomly divided into three groups. Two groups received different formulations of curcumin while the third group was given a placebo.
Each participant took four capsules daily, and we measured the cumulative days participants experienced cold symptoms. Interestingly, we discovered that those taking either curcumin formulation reported significantly fewer days with cold symptoms compared to the placebo group.
Additionally, we monitored various immune function markers, inflammatory parameters, and overall safety throughout the study. Notably, we observed no adverse effects from curcumin supplementation, making it a promising option for those looking to mitigate cold symptoms naturally.
